Position Summary

The Morgridge Peer Mentoring Program within the Classroom to Career Hub (C2 Hub) is seeking a Peer Mentoring Specialist who will report to the Assistant Director of Peer Mentoring. The Peer Mentoring Specialist will lead the supervision training and development of Peer Mentoring student staff. This role also supports the Assistant Director in the oversight of peer mentoring services programs and campus collaborations.

Morgridge Peer Mentoring is a peertopeer program that supports undergraduate students in their career success and engagement to campus. Signature services include the Career Peer Mentor Program and Career Lab which are operated by 2030 student staff members. Peer Mentoring student staff include Student Leads Career Peer Mentors and Program Ambassadors. Program Ambassadors provide campus outreach and programming support while Career Peer Mentors offer personalized career guidance to student caseloads through outreach 1:1 mentorship and resource navigation.

Classroom to Career Hub (C2 Hub) at MSU Denver connects students and employers facilitating realworld learning experiences and upskilling homegrown talent for Colorados workforce pipeline. More than a traditional career center the C2 Hub innovatively strengthens students academic and professional acumen through strategic and robust partnerships with local industries and communities to ensure an equitable and prosperous future for all Coloradans.

Duties/Responsibilities

60 TRAINING/SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP

  • Supervise a team of 20 30 direct supervisees and be responsible for the recruitment supervision training evaluation and daytoday performance management of these students.
  • Oversee student staffing and schedule management.
  • Create a positive and inclusive working environment which includes relationshipbuilding development of competent staff managing expectations and leading group and individual meetings.
  • Provide career advising personal support and individualized coaching to student staff.
  • Identify professional and personal development opportunities for student staff designed to intentionally support career readiness for student employees.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Peer Mentoring on the development of trainings office procedures best practices and student staff support materials.
  • Model good judgement ethical behavior professional relationships and a positive and cooperative attitude.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Director create tools for assessing impact and career outcomes.
  • Support and participate in outreach activities including campus visit program presentations campus events and community engagement projects.

20 PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVENT PROGRAMMING

  • Play an integral role in the leadership and enhancement of a signature Career Peer Mentor Program including the management of tools and systems.
  • Use innovative ideas and methods in developing strategies to increase program engagement and outcomes.
  • Cultivate partnerships with stakeholders to deliver effective programming that is in alignment with universitywide retention and engagement efforts and supports the holistic development of all MSU Denver students.
  • Become knowledgeable about Classroom to Career Hub resources services programs and staff.

10 ADMINISTRATIVE AND ASSESSMENT

  • Provide administrative support for Peer Mentoring signature programs including the Career Peer Mentor Program Career Lab and firstyear student focus.
  • Manage a budget for student staff salaries (tracking workstudy & hourly spending) as well as peermentor training and programming activities.
  • Assist with data collection and assessment as it pertains to the success of the program and making datadriven decisions to scale the peermentoring program to ensure its meeting the institutional goals of student retention and career outcomes.
  • Participate in recurring professional team meetings and oneonone meetings with the Assistant Director of Peer Mentoring.

10 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Remain current regarding trends and developments in higher education highimpact practices related to peer mentoring career development equity and inclusion and student retention.
  • Actively participates in committees and working groups related to peertopeer support programs retention efforts and career development.
  • Participate in training and relevant professional development activities to support professional and/or departmental growth. Works to operationalize and/or integrate learning from these trainings into the work unit and work processes.
  • Represent the interests of Classroom to Career Hub and Peer Mentoring for campus wide committees and events.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience having a supervision or leadershiprole within a groupsetting.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience using effective communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work some evenings/weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in higher education counseling or related field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience working with diverse urban populations in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and practice.
  • Interest and/or focus on career development support.
  • One year of previous experience in supervising training and evaluating 10 or more staff.
  • Experience creating programs that build community and foster student leadership development.
  • Knowledge of student information systems such as Workday Banner Navigate etc.
  • Knowledge and participation of national regional state and/or local higher education organizations.

Work Hours

  • Fulltime 40 hours per week Exempt
  • Monday through Friday 8:00am 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
  • This is a primarily inperson role with limited opportunity for remote work.
  • Travel: Rarely

Salary for Announcement

We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $47300 $51100. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. Additionally Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end we will not pay less than $47300.

The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
