POSITION:WHES GreenClub Sponsor (Job # 2936

Location:Windy Hill Elementary School

JOB SUMMARY:

The Green School Sponsor will work to establish a Green School student team engage in activities to Green the school provide for ongoing sustainable practices and document activities and practices annually. The Green School Sponsor serves as representative of the principal to ensure that the school continues to be a MAEOE Green School with the support of the County Energy and Environmental Specialist.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  2. Demonstrated management leadership and human relations skills
  3. Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
  4. Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
  5. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with the principal to establish guidelines that are appropriate for the specific club that will be sponsored.
  2. Establish meeting dates for the club and develop a plan to communicate those dates to the student body such that enrollment is open to a broad spectrum of the student population.
  3. Meetings should occur on at least a monthly basis for the agreed upon duration of the club.
  4. Collaborate with the principal on the completion of any special projects or products that result from the club activity.
  5. Be responsible for recording accurately all monies collected for events and for promptly turning monies and records of monies to the principals designee.
  6. Schedule club events in accordance with school policies.
  7. Secure sufficient staff to chaperone and to supervise club activities and events as appropriate.

OTHER DUTIES:Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Activities Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS: None

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: On or afterApril 3 2025

This position remains open until filled. Interviews may begin as early as

April 3 must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1 1986 who will have contact with school children must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I9 in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

Pursuant to Section 6113.2 of the Education Article Annotated Code of Maryland House Bill 486 Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered coached mentor tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
