Duties:
Maintain the physical plant with repairs and preventive maintenance. Installs alters troubleshoots repairs and maintains pipe systems designed to conduct flow of hot and cold water sewage gas steam air oil and fire suppression systems. Installs and maintains pipe systems located above under and on the ground; in on and between walls floors and ceilings. Installs alters repairs and maintains plumbing fixtures such as heating devices sinks lavatories toilets tubs showers water heaters faucets drains hydrants water coolers and laundry and kitchen equipment. Installs alters repairs and maintains devices such as traps vents drains siphons and pumps integral to plumbing systems meter fittings couplings and unions. Schedules and performs specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment systems and machinery to ensure that necessary inspection adjustment and replacement of parts. Advises in the selection ordering and storage of plumbing materials equipment and hardware. Responsible for supervising inmates working in the maintenance department. Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts. Maintain an extensive array of tools and follow all policies and procedures relating to tool control. Estimates time cost and materials required for the completion of work orders and requisitions materials as necessary. and purchasing of tools equipment and parts. Responsible for maintenance related purchases and statement reconciliation.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age high school education or equivalent a valid drivers license and must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.
Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of correctional experience with direct supervision of incarcerated individuals. Vocational training or certifications in maintenance or plumbing preferred.
Other: Valid drivers license required. Must be willing to be oncall throughout the year. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following preemployment exams in this order: medical exam and at a randomly announced time pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
