ADMINISTRATOR VACANCY

Principal

Beginning July 12025

JOB SUMMARY:

The Principal will lead a school that is committed to maintaining a consistent fair and safe environment for all children. The Principal provides strategic and instructional leadership and is committed to focusing on students and their learning while overseeing the management of the daytoday operations of the elementary school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Serve as the instructional leader and operational manager of an elementary school facility.
    • Manages by being present visible and by walking around and spending time in classrooms.
    • Plan conduct and maintain performance evaluations designed to ensure that site goals and objectives are achieved.
    • Provide strategic leadership to ensure that all levels of staff adhere to site district state and national educational standards and goals as well as District mission and vision.
    • Plan develop organize and administer support systems that provide optimal educational opportunities for students.
    • Influence establish and sustain a school culture conducive to continuous improvement for students and staff.
    • Facilitate collaborative processes leading toward continuous improvement.
    • Engages in essential conversations for ongoing improvement of the school
    • Develop and sustain focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement of teaching and learning:
    • Lead the development and annual update of a comprehensive safe schools plan that includes prevention intervention crisis response and recovery.
    • Ensure the physical social emotional and intellectual safety of students and staff.
    • Lead the development implementation and evaluation of the datadriven plan for the improvement of student achievement.
    • Use a variety of data to inform and support decisions about instruction and assessment of learning.
    • Use a variety of monitoring structures (e.g. informal observation assessment lesson plan analysis formal lesson observation) to improve instruction and assessment of learning.
    • Communicate clearly effective instructional and assessment practices for staff.
    • Assist instructional staff in aligning curriculum instruction and assessment with state and local learning goals.
    • Monitor facilitate and evaluate staff implementation of the school improvement plan effective instruction and assessment practices.
    • Manage human and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal responsibilities.
    • Assist in the development implementation interpretation and administration of policies rules and regulations and negotiated employee agreements.
    • Supervise direct and coordinate the assignment of instructional and support personnel.
    • Utilize staff development and improvement strategies and effectively address difficult issues and conduct difficult discussions with followthrough.
    • Communicate and partner with families staff and community members to promote student learning.
    • Build collegial and collaborative relationships with and among school staff members.
    • Promote and model an atmosphere of inclusiveness equity and respect among students staff and the community.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
    • Provide leadership in student management including in the areas of student attendance discipline and supervision.
    • Inform and consult with District Administrators regularly on the overall operation of the elementary school.
    • Act as a mentor motivator and moralebuilder with students and staff.
    • Promote professional growth as well as staff development
    • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Educational Administration or related field. Ability to obtain Washington State Principal Certificate and or Professional Administrator certificate prior to the first contracted day.
  • Five or more years of combined teaching and administrative experience at the elementary ormiddleschool level. (If currently holding an outofstate certificate must have a minimum of three years in the administrative role at the P12 level from that state.

  • Possess experience as a skilled problem solver and facilitator.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize.
  • Possesses the ability to resolve the conflict under the umbrella of respect.

DESIRED CRITERIA:

  • Classroom experience at the elementary or middle school level.
  • Previous Principal Assistant Assistant Principal or Principal experience preferred.
  • Models a sense of humor and a positive approach to leadership.
  • Possesses a style of leadership that includes integrity honesty and respect.
  • Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) preferred.
  • Possesses the ability to constructively work with behaviorally challenged children.
  • Knowledgeable of current state initiatives such as State learning standards Smarter Balance assessments and TPEP.
  • Experience using the School Improvement Plan to guide the implementation of sustainable structures and systems that promote social emotional physical and academic student growth.
  • Values parent involvement and working closely with the schools parent/teacher organization.
  • Possesses competence in building relationships with staff parents and outside organizations and resources.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Mead Principals Association and Policies and Procedures of Mead School District. The salary range for the position is: Min:140768.00 $Max: $173027.00 Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position. Previous relevant verified experience may result in higher step placement.

A typical work year consists of 260 days which includes 13 holidays. The individual number of days may vary by position as defined within the employee shall accumulate twelve 12 days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. A maximum of three 3 days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employees scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours or to be accumulated for the purpose of cash out. FullTime Employees working yearround shall accumulate 25 Days 200 hours) annually. Balances over 240 hours as of July 1 will be forfeited prior to the new years accrual.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical Dental Vision Life Insurance and LongTerm Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
