Conditions of Employment:
- Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator and compliance with the City of Edmontons Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment including medical monitoring is a requirement of this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required licenses and certifications
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs and work in awkward or constrained positions

Are you looking for a dynamic role that combines horticulture and pest control The City of Edmontons Parks and Roads Services is seeking a motivated and safetyconscious individual to join our team as a Pest Control Operator/Labourer II. In this dualclass role youll play a crucial part in maintaining our citys parks and roads infrastructure ensuring a safe and beautiful environment for our citizens. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors is passionate about vegetation management and is committed to teamwork.
As a Pest Control Operator/Labourer II you will be responsible for a variety of tasks throughout the year. From spring to fall you will supervise labourers mix and apply herbicides and conduct pre and postapplication scouting in various public areas within the Centre City District. In the winter you will transition to a Labourer II role operating equipment and performing horticulture duties such as shrub bed maintenance planting and mulching. Safety is a key priority in both seasons as you will be expected to uphold the Citys safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment.
What will you do
- Assign supervise and participate in the application of herbicides to manage weeds on City assets
- Calibrate equipment and perform minor maintenance
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning regulated and nuisance weeds
- Maintain daily chemical record sheets
- Supervise Labourers in field inspection chemical mixing and application
- Mentor and coach staff in the field and act in the Licensed Crew Leader role as required
- Coordinate onsite operating requirements
- Maintain shrub beds operate equipment spread mulch and perform pruning and planting tasks
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with the public and other employees
- Ensure accurate completion of pesticide application documentation
- Ensure safe handling and application of herbicides
- Ensure staff are trained in application best practices and equipment operation
- Participate in safety inspections and follow all corporate safety and environmental policies
