Job Summary/Description:

KY3 in Springfield MO (market 72 the awardwinning dominant number one station in the beautiful Ozark mountains has a rare opening for a dayside anchor. This is the perfect job for an experienced candidate who has worked nightside or mornings throughout their career and now wants a more regular shift. Candidate should be energetic creative value hard work and be a great storyteller. The successful candidate will anchor news onair and on streaming plus do special franchises and series throughout the year. If you love community service and meeting the public this is the job for you. KY3 hosts several community events and tours each year. Field anchoring is a plus we value. We need an anchor who will be involved in the daytoday operations of the newsroom and be a mentor to staff members.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Be able to program and work (or willing to learn) a touchscreen onair smoothly
Be able to move around on set throughout the newscast standing and sitting
Research gather write edit and report news stories onair and online in the most accurate appealing timely and creative way using all sources.
Be able to do regular franchise or special reports as assigned by the news director
Be able to write in a clear concise conversational manner.
Must read through scripts thoroughly before going onair.
Possess excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills
Report live on the scene especially during breaking news or weather
Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
Demonstrate sound news judgment and journalist ethics; collaborate with others to present the story in the best way possible
Mentor other staff members especially MMJs
Be able to adlib for hours during breaking news election coverage or weather
Must be able to utilize nonlinear editing equipment on a daily basis
Enterprise hardnews researchdriven packages under tight deadlines
Participate in the story selection process through meetings. Daily contribution of lead story ideas centering on safety and security is required
Attend/host/speak at community service schools and community events regularly (several times a month); meet and greet viewers
Post and regularly update stories and other material on the web and social media per station requirements. Interaction with viewers on social media is a must including the ability to do Facebook lives regularly
Communicate with the web staff and other appropriate staff members during breaking news
Follow clothing and appearance guidelines set by the news director
Must be a visual storyteller; perform creative standups and explanatory moving live shots when needed.
Holiday work will be required. Must be available during breaking news and weather to work extended shifts. Some fillin work on weekends is required.
Be willing to learn or possess a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area including people places things and history
Critique feedback and training are part of the job
Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned
Ability to carry and edit video with digital cameras
Strong initiative and attention to detail
Maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will mesh well with coworkers supervisors and viewers
Must stay current with national and local news/weather know what is going on in the community

Qualifications/Requirements:

Must have anchored at a local or network television station for at least three years
Bachelor degree in journalism or related field is preferred
Work with ENPS and Grass Valley Edius editing is a plus
