University of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College Office of Community and Continuing Education is seeking applications for the NonCredit Instructor (Casual Hire). Important note: Applicants seeking shortterm or parttime work with the University of Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructionaltype positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for fulltime employees and up to 1 calendar year for parttime employees.

Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance program needs and renewal of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision teach courses assigned.
  

• Develop curriculum and teach noncredit courses.

• Subjects include but are not limited to the following: basic office skills brand development (marketing) budgeting and finance business business or digital analytics business plan development entrepreneur computer (basic intermediate and advanced) culinary culture and history IT Fundamentals Artificial Intelligence (AI) Basics Cybersecurity project management health and wellness digital advertising digital media digital arts fundamentals graphic arts English as a Second Language Community Interpreting Incumbent Worker Community Interpreting Fundamentals Court Interpreting foreign languages gardening (aquaponics organic hydroponics) urban farming Ikebana hospitality and tourism Tour Guide Training leadership marketing for small business social media soft skills sustainability resiliency renewable energy and performing arts (taiko hula or ukulele)

• Specialized content specific contract training.

• Evening weekend courses and distance education courses may be assigned.

• Ability to communicate clearly and to teach for a variety of audiences including adult learners and veterans.

• Teaching assignment is as needed and dependent upon course enrollment

• Certificate and/or license associate or bachelors degree in the appropriate subject area when applicable; or equivalent combination of education/training and jobrelated experience

• Knowledge skills ability and expertise required in the field.

• Must be able to provide a course proposal description syllabus detailing the student outcomes and suggested budget.

  • Basic Office Skills or Business Plan Development

    • Bachelors in Management or Business Administration with 3 years of related experience

  • Brand Development (Marketing) or Digital Advertising or Marketing for Small Business or Social Media

    • Masters in Marketing or Business Administration (MBA); OR

    • Bachelors in Marketing or Business Administration with 3 years of relevant work experience

  • Business or Budgeting and Finance or Business/Digital Analytics or Project Management or Leadership or Soft Skills

  • Digital Media

    • Masters in Fine Arts in Studio Art with the specialization in new media art or a related area of study (i.e. design animation digital art digital media multimedia computer graphics film etc) with 1 year of related industry experience; OR

    • Any Masters degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study with 3 years of related industry experience; OR

    • Any Bachelors degree with coursework in new media art or a related area of study with 5 years of related industry experience; OR

  • Digital or Graphic Arts Fundamentals

  • Culture and History

    • Masters in History or cultural studies

  • English as a Second Language

      • Masters in the study of the culture or history of the people who speak English; OR

Desirable Qualifications:
