The Radiation Oncology service at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) has installed a StateOfTheArt Varian Edge Linear Accelerator and has an immediate opening for Licensed Veterinary Technicians.

Join a team of boardcertified Veterinary Oncologists residents students NYS Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Radiologic Technologists (RT)/American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) that help guide families through their pets cancer diagnosis providing the best quality of life possible. The most satisfying part of our job is forming strong bonds with our patients and their families over the course of their treatment and followup visits.

You will use your training and expertise to provide technical assistance for animals that require radiation therapy diagnostic workups and procedures. Some examples include:

  • Oversee and assist in the diagnostic workup of each patient which includes venipuncture/catheter placement administering and monitoring sedation and assisting in minor medical procedures.

  • Admission and discharge of patients.

  • Management and coordination of inpatients and outpatients.

  • Client communcation and scheduling including followup visits.

  • RDVM communication.

  • Computerized patient medical record management.

  • Work closely with specialized LVT anesthetists with induction and recovery.

  • Work closely with other hospital services to provide comprehensive patient care

  • Shape the future of veterinary care through instruction of our diverse veterinary students and house officers.

What qualifications are required

  • Associate degree from an AVMAaccredited institution with 2 years of small animal practice experience.

  • Eligible for NYS licensure.

  • Interest in ongoing career growth and advanced skill development

  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a busy teamoriented clinical environment.

  • VTS (or interested in pursuing VTS) are encouraged to apply!

The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24hour care for pets 365 days a year but most of our oncology appointments are outpatients seen during the regular work week. Occasional requests for additional coverage may happen due to caseload and need.
