Job Description

Gillette Childrens is seeking an oncall occupational therapist to work on inpatient rehab ortho and neuro units at Gillette Childrens. The successful occupational therapist candidate would be required to provide intermittent weekend coverage on the inpatient units (a combination of 12 weekends and business closure days at minimum). There is also the option of working weekdays occasionally to cover for vacations etc. Join a team of dedicated rehab professionals in providing exceptional rehabilitative care!

Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities independence and community integration. Contributes to department program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.

Pay and Benefits Information:

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $33.98 to $50.99 with a median wage of $42.48/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience education certification & licensure and internal equity. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of familycentered care.
    • Designs assessment consistent with goals of evaluation provider order patient / family input and priorities.
    • Obtains necessary history and background information.
    • Selects evaluation methods tools and environment to obtain valid and reliable assessment specific to the patients age and developmental neurological musculoskeletal cardiopulmonary cognitive and behavioral status.
    • Administers evaluation consistent with best practices and Gillette competencies.
    • Interprets evaluation for to the patient / family and seeks their assessment of the evaluations reliability and validity.
    • Makes recommendations for treatment referrals equipment resources and home and community based activities.
    • Documents and bills for evaluation
  • Implements a therapy care plan utilizing principles of familycentered care.
    • Designs and implements a therapy care plan including frequency intensity duration and modalities.
    • Coordinates with related services and home and community based resources and referrals and in the context of the patient and familys needs preferences and priorities.
    • Identifies desired functional outcomes of the episode of care and goals for initial care plan recertification.
    • Monitors progress toward goals and objectives. Identifies need for modification of goals or intervention program and appropriate discontinuation of intervention.
    • Periodically completes evaluation and assessment to determine if amount and rate of progress is appropriate.
    • Designs home programs that facilitate goal attainment and generalization of new skills to home and community.
    • Prepares the patient and family for discharge from therapy and indications for followup therapy care.
  • Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
    • Completes timely and complete documentation to assure effective communication of the plan to the ordering provider the patient/family and payers and to assure continuity of care (Same day documentation 80.
    • Completes safety incident timekeeping and customer service documentation same day.
    • Uses time productively in direct and indirect patient care department contributions and assisting team members as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/REGISTRATION
    • Occupational Therapy State License.
    • Pending credentials: Registration and Licensure pending not to exceed three months in this status for OT.
  • Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90days of hire.

    Preferred:

    • NBCOT strongly preferred for Occupational Therapists
    • Pediatric experience strongly preferred

    Knowledge skills abilities:

    • Competency in occupational therapy evaluation treatment and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services.
    • Knowledge of child growth and development rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology emotional behavior factors family needs and issues community transition and equipment.
    • Effective verbal and written communication
    • Ability to function as an effective team member
    • Excellent customer service skills
