The School of Life Sciences (SoLS) College of Natural Sciences University of Hawaii at Manoa (Honolulu Hawaii) invites applicants for the position of Instructor in the Marine Biology undergraduate program. With over 600 students Marine Biology is one of the largest majors at UHM.


Thisis atemporary nontenure track fulltime 9month faculty appointment to beginJanuary2 2026 subject to position clearance availability of funds and program needs. Review ofapplicationswill begin on May 01 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.

  • Participate in SoLS committees and events as appropriate.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • A Masters degree inMarine Biology or related disciplinefrom a college or university of recognized standing with the major work in the field in which the instructional assignment is made or duties performed
    • Evidence of ability to teach effectively and to direct group discussions
    • Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others



    Desirable qualifications include:

    • Ph.D. inMarine Biology or related discipline(or closely related discipline)
    • A proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upperdivisionmarine biologycourses at the university level
    • Experienceteachinghigh enrollment >60lecture courses with multiple lab sections
    • Experience teaching students of varied backgrounds
