Job Overview:
The Medical Lab Supervisor for Transfusion Medicine is responsible for overseeing the daily operations personnel management and compliance within the transfusion medicine laboratory. This role involves data analysis coordination of programs regulatory adherence and leadership in the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures. The supervisor also contributes to teaching budgeting and ensuring the lab meets organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate products processes procedures and laboratory needs.
- Coordinate various programs and implement processes with other departments serving as a resource for employees healthcare providers and professionals within and outside the UNCHCS.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and establish and review policies and procedures.
- Manage personnel administering policies in line with Healthcare Systems standards including recruiting hiring performance evaluations training counseling and disciplinary actions.
- Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students Pathology residents fellows and new employees as needed.
- Provide input into the budget process by analyzing capital development needs and assessing the impact of new programs.
- Lead laboratory staff to meet organizational goals and ensure efficient and effective lab operations.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science degree required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Requires MLS/MT (ASCP) MT (NCA) or MT (AMT) certification for general lab supervision.
- CG (ASCP) required if supervising Cytogenetics.
- CT (ASCP) required if supervising Cytology.
- HTL (ASCP) required if supervising Histology.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of four years of experience as a medical laboratory technologist cytogenetic technologist cytotechnologist or histotechnologist is required.

- $33.04 $47.50 per hour
