Job Description

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University seeks a basic or translational physician scientist to join the division as Assistant Associate or Full Professor in the University Medical Line. Applicants must hold an MD MD/PhD or equivalent medical degree with Board eligibility/certification (or equivalent training) in cardiovascular medicine and current research experience across the cardiovascular disease clinical spectrum. We are particularly interested in highly motivated clinician candidates with research efforts focused on discovery science and/or translational science that can be applied to eventual diagnosis and treatment across the clinical spectrum of cardiovascular disease.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care clinical teaching scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate should have clinical expertise in any of the cardiovascular medicine specialties and is expected to balance a clinical practice (minimum of 20 effort in ambulatory and inpatient settings) with a robust science program and contribute to the departments mission through the mentoring and teaching of residents fellows and other graduatelevel trainees associated with the Stanford University School of Medicine. The successful candidate should be an innovative scientist with a distinctive (as appropriate for rank) scholarly record of basic or translational research focused on prevention and/or treatment of cardiovascular disease has the potential for influential publication and the ability to conduct collaborative team science with teams in biology biophysics cell biology genomics/gene expression data science or cellular assay development among other areas. Additionally the potential for obtaining competitive research funding and ability to serve as the Primary Investigator of multidisciplinary research teams are highly desired.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Assistant Professor: $291000 $318000

Associate Professor: $333000 $353000

Professor: $372000 $398000

This pay range reflects base pay which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicines faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonable expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank training and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
