Assistant Professor of Counseling and School Counseling Tenure-Track

The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy within the College of Human Development Culture and Media at Seton Hall University invites applications for a fulltime Assistant Professor of Counseling and School Counseling (TenureTrack).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Professional Psychology & Family Therapy is an interdisciplinary department that offers Masters programs in Counseling School Counseling (CAEP accredited) Applied Behavior Analysis and Psychological Studies. It also houses Educational Specialist degree programs in Professional Counseling and School Psychology and a Doctoral program in Counseling Psychology (APA accredited).

The candidate will be expected to have a strong presence on our South Orange NJ campus while engaging in an array of highimpact activities with students that includes teaching advisement research mentoring and program development. Candidates are expected to have a record of or potential for high impact scholarship commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor at an R2 institution.

The Department of Professional Psychology and Family Therapy its faculty and academic programs have a strong commitment to preparing competent socially conscious and reflective professionals. This includes training counselors and school counselors who are multiculturally oriented committed to advancing social justice and who are prepared to meet the challenges of working in complex urban settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester 18 credits per academic year) research activities commensurate with an R2 institution and service to the Department College University and the field of Counseling as whole. Key responsibilities include:

Development and teaching of graduatelevel courses
Teaching a 9credit semester load with a focus on Counseling and School Counseling dependent on departmental needs and candidate expertise
Additional duties may include advising research mentoring and clinical supervision of students

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education or an applicable discipline as articulated in accreditor standards.
Successful candidates are expected to have an openness to or ideally familiarity with teaching online and oncampus.

Desired Qualifications:

Ability to provide advanced practice supervision.
Eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor or certification as a School Counselor in the State of New Jersey. (NJ is member of the Counseling Compact).
