S3 Index Services team develops software responsible for durability and availability of keyvalue metadata. Developers in the S3 Index Services team work on some of the hardest computer science problems. We build services that can handle wildly varying access patterns and unprecedented load by our customers. Managing this growth automagically without the need for customers to provision capacity is what puts the SIMPLE in S3

The S3 Index team is looking for passionate experienced software engineers to build the next generation internetscale Tier 1 web services for S3. We own largescale distributed systems that are responsible for maintaining the durability availability and scalability of the S3 Index. You will be part of a team of highly skilled software engineers delivering the next generation of systems supporting S3.

As a Software Development Engineer on this team you will have the opportunity to develop backend subsystems with hard distributed system problems that are used by millions of applications around the world and by doing so defining S3 for customers. The work you do here significantly drives growth not just in S3 but across the AWS ecosystem. It involves creating reliable scalable and flexible web services exceptional technical expertise and a sound understanding of the Computer Science fundamentals and complex algorithms. You are someone who enjoys solving complex problems is customerobsessed and feels strongly not only about writing high quality software but also about innovating on behalf of our customers.

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple
Storage Service (S3 and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2 to consistently released new product innovations that
continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support
the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity
Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114800/year up to $191800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
