THE DEPARTMENT: As a vital department of Ventura County Health Care Agency (HCA) Ventura County Behavioral Health (VCBH) provides comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment services tailored to meet the needs of our community. From mobile crisis response to outpatient treatment our array of programs ensures individuals receive the support they need at every stage of their journey.

THE POSITION: Under supervision the Intensive Services Coordinator provides outreach services to adults youth and families needing linkage or those already receiving behavioral health services utilizing culturally sensitive individual/family centered strengthbased support. The coordinator will also provide case management case coordination immediate crisis intervention and stabilization services to individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis and assures continuity of care for clients in a community mental health program. They may work overnight/weekend shifts and/or some responsibility for 24/7 oncall and standby duties in clinics and/or field based. Incumbents in this class work within a system of interdisciplinary departmental teams providing assessment prevention intervention treatment and related ancillary support services via an integrated service delivery system.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be compassionate and patient they will possess a genuine desire to assist our underserved and difficulttoengage consumers. Strong organizational skills will be key along with familiarity with local resources and community service organizations. Theyll possess demonstrated experience in mental health this includes familiarity with case management case coordination and providing crisis intervention. The candidate should demonstrate an understanding of working with difficulttoengage populations to empower clients recognizing and building upon their existing skills and resilience. Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with professionals from various fields.

WHAT WE OFFER:
The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package. Aside from our base salary range an employee within this position may also be eligible for the following:

  • Educational Incentive An educational incentive of 2.5 for completion of an associates degree 3.5 for completion of a bachelors degree or 5 for completion of a graduates degree.
  • Bilingual Incentive Incumbents may be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill. Proficiency levels by exam are $0.69/hour (Level I) $1.00/hour (Level II) or $1.32/hour (Level III).
  • Merit Increases New employees are eligible for an initial 5 merit increase upon completion of at least 1040 hours (approximately 6 months) assuming work meets satisfactory standards. Subsequent merit increases will be upon completion of each additional 2080 hours (approximately one year) from the initial merit increase.
  • Standby Premium Pay 1/4 of regular hourly wage or Federal minimum wage (whichever is greater)
  • Night Shift Differential 5 premium added to hourly pay
  • Deferred Compensation Eligible to participate in the Countys 401(K) Shared Savings Plan and/or the Section 457 Plan. If you participate in the County sponsored 401(K) plan the County will match a part of your contribution up to 3 of your salary on a per pay period basis. Following five 5 years of continuous County service an additional 2 nonelective contribution will be made to the 401(K) plan.
  • Health Plans you are afforded a flexible credit allowance for purchasing medical dental and/or vision insurance.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts Pretax benefit towards eligible medical dental and vision care expenses.
  • Pension Plan Participate in the Countys defined benefit pension plan that provides lifetime payments to retirees. Members are vested after attaining five years of retirement service credit. If eligible you may establish reciprocity with other public retirement systems such as CalPERS.
  • Holidays 12 paid days per year which includes a scheduled floating holiday.

Intensive Services Coordinator is represented by the Services Employees International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixedterm) Intermittent and Extrahelp vacancies. There are currently five 5 Regular FullTime vacancies.

EDUCATION TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education training and experience which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge and abilities.

The required knowledge and abilities also can be obtained by four 4 years of experience in social work community health mental health substance use services prevention or education.

At least one 1 year of the qualifying experience must be in a specific program area such as mental health public health case management substance use disorder and/or peer support where local resource knowledge gained is applicable to food assistance health benefits housing temporary housing opportunities etc.

The T&E is NOT a determination of whether the candidate meets the stated requirements; rather the T&E is one method for determining who are the better qualified among those who have shown that they meet the stated requirements. In a T&E applications are either scored or rank ordered according to criteria that most closely meet the business needs of the department. Candidates are typically scored/ranked in relation to one another; consequently when the pool of candidates is exceptionally strong many qualified candidates may receive a score or rank which is moderate or even low resulting in them not being advanced in the process.

NOTE: The selection process may consists of an Oral Exam which may be preceded or replaced with the score from a Training and Experience (T&E) contingent upon the size and quality of the candidate pool. In a typical T&E your training and experience are evaluated in relation to the background experience and factors identified for successful job performance during a job analysis. NOTE: If there are three 3 or fewer qualified applicants an exam will not be conducted. Instead a score of seventy percent 70 will be assigned to each application and each applicant will be placed on the eligible list.

Applicants successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one 1 year.
