Job Description
AWS Commerce Platform International Expansion team is looking for a passionate talented and inventive Applied Scientist with a strong machine learning background to help build industryleading language technology. This is a critical role for SoR Auto Scoping Service (SoRAS) to deliver AI driven requirement understanding and enable AWS to accelerate our international expansion.
Our mission is to enable Commerce Platform services that make extending our global footprint repeatable simple and featurerich. We continuously improve rationalize and standardize our processes to deliver the best customer experience in any location! we offer a high quality frictionless indigenous experience for our customers in new markets in tune with the way they typically do business and as required by local regulations.
Key job responsibilities
As an Applied Scientist in AWS International Expansion you will be a scientific leader driving innovation in AIdriven compliance solutions across the globe leveraging your expertise in machine learning and natural language processing. Youll design novel solutions for complex regulatory challenges while optimizing data infrastructure through vector data stores evaluation and industryleading embedding techniques for compliance processing. Taking ownership of critical components youll develop scalable productiongrade AI systems with robust evaluation frameworks and conduct thorough analyses of LLM performance. Youll make strategic tradeoffs between immediate business needs and longterm technological advancement while establishing engineering best practices and continuously enhancing system performance through iterative feedback loops. Your influence will extend across teams as you explore innovative approaches to knowledge representation and drive discussions with stakeholders. Through active participation in the broader AI research community staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and leadership in technical documentation youll foster collaboration between research and engineering teams to ensure successful deployment of scientific innovations in AI governance and compliance generation processes.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3 and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2 to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
PhD or Masters degree and 6 years of applied research experience
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Experience in building machine learning models for business application
Experience in building speech recognition machine translation and natural language processing systems (e.g. commercial speech products or government speech projects)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
