Job Description Summary

The CT Mammography or MRI Dual Registered Technologist reports to the Imaging Director. Under general supervision the Radiology and CT/Mammo/MRI Dual Registered Technologist performs high quality Radiology and CT/Mammo/MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols on patient populations ranging from neonate through geriatrics for interpretation by a physician.



Operates imaging equipment: Radiology and CT Mammography or MRI following radiation safety guidelines based on hospital policy and regulatory requirements. Provides radiographic support for all areas of the Hospital as needed. Position patients accurately for specific anatomic imaging using appropriate immobilization devices when required. Avoids excessive repeated examinations by following guidelines.

Job Description Summary

Operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under direction of a physician. They explain the procedure to patients position and immobilizethepatients breast in unit and observe thescanning process. This involves monitoring thevideo display of the area being scanned and adjusting thedensity or contrast to improve picture quality. Mammography technologists thenreview and evaluate the film or image recording plate to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.

FLSA : Hourly

Education: Associate degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Mammogram technicians will focus on performing diagnostic imaging tests utilizing lowdose xray devices. The care team member work closely with doctors and other medical experts when it comes to a patient and are answerable to a manager or chief technologist. Mammography technicians may also be responsible for the following tasks:

  • keeping track of patient records

  • adjusting imaging apparatus as necessary

  • describing the procedure to patients and responding to any inquiries

  • adhering to a doctors directions for images

  • using xray protection equipment

  • patient positioning

  • using machinery to provide diagnostic pictures.

  • picture retouching as necessary

(Infrequent) Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift from 36 to overhead 25 lbs. (Infrequent) Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. (Frequent) Examples include: To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to work in a latex safe environment. Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. *Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. *Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use initially and as required.
