Job Description
Project Kuiper Amazons initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit communications satellites is seeking a Kuiper Security Destruction Manager to lead our secure destruction program. This role is an integral part of protecting Kuipers intellectual property and ensuring the confidentiality of our innovative space technology.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in security operations secure destruction risk management and supply chain security with a strong background in managing complex logistics and vendor relationships. This position requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement comprehensive security strategies that are innovative and frugal. This role will be responsible for the development deployment and global reach of a secure destruction effort across the Kuiper footprint.
Key job responsibilities
Manage daytoday secure logistics operations for physical security of Kuiper hardware pending destruction
Plan coordinate and execute destruction events involving multiple Amazon teams vendors and stakeholders across global locations
Develop and implement security standards for space technology destruction protocols
Coordinate secure storage shipping and receiving with multiple vendors ensuring compliance with security requirements ITAR and export control requirements
Develop security contract language to protect Amazons space technology IP
Manage thirdparty destruction vendor relationships and ensure contractual deliverables are met
Document and train teams on destruction standards for space technology components
Maintain close coordination with Kuiper engineering teams regarding hardware destruction security initiatives
Build and run security operations for secure storage and destruction of satellite and ground station hardware
Create and implement Kuiperspecific secure destruction awareness materials and training globally
Develop and regularly inspect metrics to inform programmatic needs and policy decisions
Support Business Continuity planning for Kuiper hardware security
About the team
The Kuiper Security Team is responsible for protecting critical assets and intellectual property throughout Kuipers development and manufacturing processes. Our team operates at the intersection of space technology hardware security and supply chain management implementing robust security solutions for one of Amazons most innovative initiatives.
8 years in security program management
5 years with secure destruction and enforcing protocols for sensitive technology
Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships and complex logistics
Ability to work onsite in Redmond WA with 2040 domestic/international travel
Experience with export control compliance and ITAR requirements
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelors degree in Security Management Engineering Business Administration or related field
Masters degree in Security Management MBA or related field
Experience in aerospace or satellite technology industry
CPP CISM or PMP Certification
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
TAPA certification or similar secure logistics credentials
Experience with confidential material handling and destruction
Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
Experience managing global security programs
Understanding of space technology development lifecycle
Knowledge of HighRisk Material to include satellite hardware and communications systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $173400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
