The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for a GIS Analyst 3 located in Alaska!

Pay is based on locationof the selected applicant; salary will be discussed at the time of interview.

Fairbanks: $2833.50 Biweekly
Anchorage: $ 2751.00 Biweekly
Kodiak: $ 3053.25 Biweekly

Bethel Utqiagvik: $ 4126.50 Biweekly

What you will be doing:
This position independently provides Geographic Information Systems (GIS) design implementation data management and technical support to the Division of Wildlife Conservation. This includes support design configuration and maintenance of geospatial databases and servers for the computation analysis and delivery of geospatial data and products.

This position works on a team with one GIS Analyst 2 and an additional GIS Analyst 3 and collaborates on GIS infrastructure and shared resources within the Department.

You will work with wildlife biologists game managers GIS analysts and researchers to utilize GIS resources to meet the mission and objectives of the Division of Wildlife Conservation.

As a GIS Analyst 3 for the division you will take part in advancing GIS systems processes and technologies ensuring that staff have the tools necessary to fulfill the divisions mission. These tools include ArcGIS online ArcGIS desktop ArcGIS server and various other infrastructure and platforms.

This position will be recruited statewide and the candidate can be based from any location across Alaska including Juneau Anchorage Fairbanks and surrounding communities.

You will communicate with their peers via regular staff meetings and routinely interact with biologists application developers GIS analysts and other staff throughout the state to develop solutions and provide excellent customer service. This position may be eligible to telework.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in


  • Database Management Systems: Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software to control the organization storage retrieval security and integrity of data.

  • Decision Making: Makes sound wellinformed and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.

  • Geospatial Science Knowledge of the concepts principles theories and methods related to the collection storage analysis visualization and distribution of geographic based data and maps.

  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive onthejob experience to perform ones job; works with understands and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory postsecondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in geographic information systems (GIS) operations data collection cartography computer science geography or related field.
