The Advanced Electron Microscopy and Nanostructured Materials Group in CMPMS BNL is seeking postdoctoral research associate for Electron microscopy study of quantum materials.
The goal of the research is to explore understand and control the novel physical mechanisms of quantum materials including chargespinlattice interactions at a wide range of temperatures especially at low temperatures where intriguing materials behavior emerges. The research will focus on quantum materials exhibiting insulatormetaltransition spintorqueoscillator or topological properties for novel forms of information storage and manipulation.
Position Description:
The position will provide an exceptional opportunity for research in quantum materials and devices for one or two of the following areas: strongly correlated electron systems multiferroics topological materials skyrmions and superconductors at the forefront of electron microscopy with extraordinary spatial and temporal resolutions to understand structureproperty relationship. Planned experiments with quantitative data analyses include but not limited to low temperature atomic imaging high energyresolution energyloss spectroscopy nanoprobe 4D scanning diffraction insitu electromagnetic biasing and ultrafast electron microscopy. The work will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Yimei Zhu. Close collaborations with leading theoretical and experimental groups at BNL are an essential ingredient of the research.

Position Requirements:
- PhD. in Condensed Matter Physics Materials Science or closely related field.
- Solid background in electron microscopy and structural characterization.
- Experience in aberration corrected electron microscopy and monochromated electron energylossspectroscopy.
- Ultrafast electron diffraction and microscopy.
- Effective communication skills.
Other Information:
- BNL policy requires that after obtaining a PhD eligible candidates for research associate appointments may not exceed a combined total of 5 years of relevant work experience as a postdoc and/or in an R&D position excluding time associated with family planning military service illness or other lifechanging events.
- The full salary range for this position is $70000 $90000 / year. Salary offers will be commensurate with the final candidates qualification education and experience and considered with the internal peer group.
