The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of entrylevel engineering duties related to the management of a construction project and/or assist the Estimating department by performing quantity takeoffs for construction estimates.
Responsibilities:
1. Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates; solicits delivery schedules from suppliers and expedites deliveries to avoid costly construction delays
2. Participates in the proposed changes process by preparing quantity takeoffs
3. Assists in preparation of the submittal schedule as required to meet construction schedule and coordinates submissions with subcontractors; assumes overall responsibility for submittals including checking for accuracy transmittals to and from subcontractors architects and superintendents and maintains logs; expedites delivery of submittals when necessary to avoid delays in construction; keeps project manager abreast of submissions that will impact schedule
4. Prepares and/or oversees preparation of a number of reports dealing with the project such as material logs submittal logs RFI logs drawing logs and long lead items log as required by owners and/or company operating procedures
5. Assists in the verification of monthly subcontractor payment requests
6. May assume a role in locating suppliers for various building materials; reviewsinvoices upon request to verify quantity quality and prices for construction materials
7. Responds to requests for information (RFIs) from owners and subcontractors preparing RFIs for the project architect and/or structural engineer of record when necessary to clarify technical issues concerning the project; ensures that informationreceived in response to RFIs is routed to the applicable field superintendent andsubcontractors
8. Assists in compiling closeout documents including asbuilt drawings guaranteeswarranties service manuals and other related documents for delivery to the owner;may prepare Austins warranty for inclusion in this package and assist in preparing other closeout documents as assigned
9. When not assigned to a project the PE II generally is assigned to the Estimating Department preparing detailed cost estimates; may assist with value engineering activities and the pricing of those alternate procedures; interacts with a wide variety of construction professionals including owner representatives architects structural engineers subcontractors suppliers etc.
10. Participates in jobsite safety as outlined in companys Safety & Health Manual
11. Other duties as assigned
