NOTICE OF VACANCY

February 17 2025

POSITION: HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

LOCATION: To be determined

POSITION SUMMARY: Passionate educational leader with a strong commitment to student learning and an enhanced student experience. This position impacts and influences the work of the school staff and students by engaging teams of stakeholders holding people accountable for school performance and focusing on continuous improvement and sustainable results for student learning.

REPORTS TO: Superintendents Leadership Team

EDUCATION CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

At the time of application the candidate must hold or be eligible for:

  1. Administrator II endorsement (or be eligible for this endorsement by July 1 2025.
  2. Five 5 years of successful teaching experience as a teacher required high school experience preferred.
  3. Three 3 years of successful administrative or supervisory experience required high school level preferred.
  4. Experience with multiple schools and/or levels preferred.

KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS: (These are preemployment knowledge abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions. At the time of employment the candidate must have:

  1. Demonstrated leadership experience outside of the classroom.
  2. Understanding of and ability to maintain rapport with persons from diverse cultural ethnic and racial groups.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage effective teams and work collaboratively in groups.
  4. Understanding of and ability to navigate the school and district as a systems leader.
  5. Demonstrated ability to utilize and promote equitable practices in all facets of education.
  6. Understanding of curriculum instruction organizational patterns school operations and student services.
  7. Understands how trauma equity inclusive practices and restorative practices impacts the student and teacher experience.
  8. Understanding of how to implement various supports to manage student behavior such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Ukeru and Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI).
  9. Understanding of the school improvement process in order to determine root causes develop annual goals classroom strategies and measurements of success.
  10. Knowledge and demonstrated ability to analyze and use data including the Student Assessment System to make instructional and program decisions.
  11. Demonstrated ability to problem solve make informed decisions and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  12. Understanding of the Blueprint for Marylands Future Maryland College and Career Ready Standards Charlotte Danielsons Framework for Teaching Multitiered system of support and strong tier 1 universal instruction and equitable and inclusive learning environments that support student success.
  13. Knowledge of sound instructional practice including purposeful planning that will increase student achievement when measured in a variety of ways.
  14. Understanding of instructional technology including digital curriculum and tools and its use in the classroom.
  15. Demonstrated ability to manage change with staff students parents and community.
  16. Competence in staff selection training supervision and evaluation.
  17. Understanding of how to work with teachers in the supervision process in order to improve instruction.
  18. Understanding of the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders.
  19. Demonstrated ability to motivate encourage and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale.
  20. Understanding of administrative policies and procedures and negotiated agreements for Calvert County Public Schools.
  21. Demonstrated physical vigor necessary to work diligently on the successful completion of school assignments.
  22. Respond effectively under stressful circumstances.
  23. Possess a valid drivers license and motor vehicle insurance.
  24. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.
  25. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Collaborates with the school staff and community to develop advocate and enact a shared vision mission and core values of highquality education and academic success and wellbeing of each student.
  2. Demonstrates ethics integrity and professionalism in personal conduct relationships with others decisionmaking stewardship of the schools resources and all aspects of school leadership.
  3. Ensures equitable educational opportunities and culturally responsive practices to promote each students academic success and wellbeing.
  4. Confronts and alters institutional biases of student marginalization deficitbased schooling and low expectations associated with race class culture and language gender and sexual orientation and disability or special status.
  5. Enforces student policies and addresses student misconduct in a positive fair and unbiased manner.
  6. Supports intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum instruction and assessment to promote each students academic success and wellbeing including the effective use of technology.
  7. Employs valid assessments that are consistent with knowledge of child learning and development and technical standards of measurement.
  8. Cultivates an inclusive caring and supportive school community that promotes the academic success and wellbeing of each student.
  9. Ensures a multitiered system of support is implemented to meet the needs of students through academics socialemotional and behavior.

  18. Manages and administers school operations and resources to promote each students academic success and wellbeing and ensures compliance with federal state and local laws regulations and policies.
  19. Develops and maintains data and communication systems to deliver actionable information for classroom and school improvement.
  20. Acts as an agent of continuous improvement to promote each students academic success and wellbeing.
  21. Communicates and collaborates with appropriate central office executive team directors and supervisors on matters of student discipline transfer placement promotion retention recordkeeping and all critical school activities or issues.
  22. Attends special school or districtrelated events.
  23. Thinks concentrates and interacts well with others.
  24. Comes to work promptly every day.
  25. Works extended hours daily and works flexible hours as necessary.
  26. Works well under stress and meets all deadlines.

OTHER JOB DUTIES: Is available to various student teacher and community groups for educationrelated and extracurricular purposes beyond the regular workday. Performs related work as required or assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve 12 month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the salary schedule for administrators and supervisors. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
