We announce the followingANTICIPATED SPECIAL EDUCATION vacancy for theschool year in the Rochester Community Schools. Applications will be accepted until filled.

1.0 FTEOccupational Therapist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree and Certificate in occupational therapy.
  • License from state of Michigan to practice occupational therapy.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students staff and parents.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SALARY:

Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement

Selection of an individual to fill this vacancy is determined by the appropriate administrators based upon experience qualifications and professional attributes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations Diversity Equity and Inclusion

JOB GOAL: To evaluation students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs and to plan and implement therapeutic activities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with school team in planning and implementing activities to assist students eligible for special education in benefiting from their educational experience.
  1. Evaluates students educational needs and uses the findings to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  1. Screens and evaluates students to determine special education eligibility and develop IEPs.
  1. Plans therapy intervention programs to support specific educational activities of students.
  1. Provides training to appropriate persons to carry out therapy goals in the school setting.
  1. Arranges for appropriate equipment adaptation fabrication and repair; arranges for appropriate room setup.
  1. Functions as a team member for METs and IEPs and maintains contact with school family medical personnel and other appropriate agencies.
  1. Problem solves to meet students everchanging needs.
  1. Establishes and maintains appropriate records reports and procedures.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrators.
