Job Description

Publicity Assistant Random House

As Publicity Assistant you will be reporting to the Publicity Director and Executive Publicist for the Crown Tim Duggan Books and Broadway Books imprints. This position is responsible for helping to bring our publications to the largest possible readership through innovative publicity campaigns ensuring that those people who might buy our books are connected to their next read.

The Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support for the Director and Executive Publicist and other team members as needed including shipping invoice processing and database management
  • Assist with pitching and securing national and local media including print and online reviews and features television and radio interviews
  • Assist with writing press materials compiling press kits overseeing galley and finished copy mailings creating pitch letters and managing other promotional materials and assets
  • Represent Crown/Tim Duggan Books/Broadway Books at local author events and to local community
  • Coordinate logistics of book events and tours as needed including coordinating signing and media in tour markets and handling author travel arrangements
  • Monitor general email Inbox and other incoming media requests and respond or redirect as appropriate
  • Research and seek out new media outlets and pursue online publicity opportunities; make initial calls and followups on leads
  • Create and manage author itineraries
  • Attend internal titlespecific meetings regarding publicity campaigns
  • Followup on items to ensure timelines are met
  • Special projects as assigned

The Essentials:

  • Related college degree or equivalent experience
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for book publishing industry
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent attention to detail and followup skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
  • Photoshop Adobe and basic html skills are highly desirable

Salary for this position is $40000. Fulltime employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.
