The Department of Philosophy at Wesleyan University invites applications for a onesemester nontenuretrack position as Visiting Professor of Philosophy beginning January 22 2026. AOS/AOC open but we are especially interested in political philosophy philosophical work on animals or history of philosophy (any tradition except Chinese). Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as a Visiting Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as a Visiting Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand at the time of appointment. Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college that values both scholarship and teaching very highly and has a strong diverse undergraduate student body.
The teaching load for a one semester visiting faculty member is 2 courses. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
Courses will be chosen to reflect the successful candidates teaching strengths. No advising duties.
