You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington Seattle invites qualified candidates to apply for a fulltime tenuretrack faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This position is on a 9month service period with an anticipated start date of September 16 2025.
We seek to hire a faculty member in medical imaging physics. The successful applicant will be expected to conductbasic and/or translational research making fundamental advances in the understanding of medical imaging physics (ultrasound xray PET MRI etc. and their applications to advanced diagnostic and therapeutics in medicine and biology.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative and internationally recognized research program with direct impacts on both academia and industry. A critical expectation for the recruited candidate is to lead interdisciplinary research efforts in close collaboration with various entities and researchers both on and off campus such as the School of Medicine or the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program with direct impacts on both academia and industry. The candidate will also be expected to provide innovative highquality teaching in MEs Bachelors Masters and PhD programs to mentor and educate graduate students and to contribute to an inclusive and equitable campus. A critical expectation for the recruited candidate is to lead interdisciplinary research efforts in close collaboration with various entities and researchers both on and off campus such as the School of Medicine or the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound.
The UW Mechanical Engineering Department has achieved international prominence in Engineering Sciences applied to Medicine. We have a strong presence in areas like cellular and cardiovascular biomechanics rehabilitation and artificial limb engineering cerebral palsy biomechanics biophotonics and advanced endoscopy/microscopy diagnostics urology and point of care viral diagnostics. We aim to expand this success to advanced medical imaging techniques for diagnostic and treatment of cardiovascular diseases cancer endourology musculoskeletal disorders etc. where the ME Department already have a strong foothold and collaborations with the UW School of Medicine. is in a significant and sustained growth period and seeks to build on existing strengths while expanding its impact. We want to emphasize that the individuals excellence in research as clearly identified by a record of publication in archival journals and presentations and top international conferences is more important than the specific area of subspecialization.

The base salary range for this position will be $11111$17000 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Applicants must have a PhD or other equivalent doctorate degree in Mechanical Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline. The successful applicant will be expected to provide innovative highquality teaching; to develop a vigorous externallyfunded research program; and to contribute to the goals and missions of the department college and university.
