The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is a paid personal professional and community development opportunity for North Bay youth aged 1518 who are attending school. The program has been running since 2009 in partnership with Ontarios Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCCSS). As a Youth in Policing Student you will engage in hands on learning experiences that emphasize the importance of leadership teamwork and community engagement. The goal of the YIPI program is to give young people an opportunity to develop job skills while enhancing police and community relations.

The program is for interested youth with leadership potential including those who may experience barriers to success and would benefit from this unique opportunity.Participants will be provided with an opportunity to learn about the North Bay Police Service participate in the development and implementation of community initiatives including but not limited to: Lock It or Lose It Campaign SCRAM Program Bike Rodeo etc.

This is a paid student position running for 8 weeks 40 hours/week (including evenings and weekends).The initial start date will be on July 7 2025and end on August 29 2025.

To qualify for the Youth in Policing Student position applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 1518
  • Reside in the North Bay area
  • Be currently enrolled in secondary school
  • Be returning to secondary or postsecondary school in September of 2025
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Be available for the entire duration of the program
  • Must not have previously participated in any YIPI program

    • Once you have submitted your cover letter/resume you will be emailed a form to complete.

Selection:

As a part of the selection for this position all applicants may be assessed through a resume review interview and background investigation.
