Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Transportation is the State Agency responsible for the planning development design and construction of the States transportation systems. We employ more than 2100 professionals statewide which includes more than 170 Civil Engineers. Many of our Interns accept employment opportunities as Engineers upon graduation and we hope youll consider joining us this summer to find out more about what we do!
Job Duties:
Interns will be mentored and trained to perform inspection on routine phases of construction projects. May use computer programs to keep construction records and documentation including Windows and webbased programs computeraided drafting & design (CADD) Microsoft Office and mobile applications. May also participate as a member of a survey crew and perform tests on construction materials. May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be a threefourths time student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
Preferred Qualifications: Civil Engineering student with relevant coursework.
Other: Must be currently pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline. Must have a valid drivers license. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills. Must have strong work ethic dedication and ability to work as part of a team. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds climb bend stoop walk long distances and work in outdoor temperature extremes; work the schedule required by the hiring supervisor which may include working overtime and/or irregular work hours as needed; perform routine tasks using a computer including word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
