Job Description
Are you a skilled DevOps & Observability Specialist ready to make a significant impact Play a vital role in ensuring the stability performance and efficiency of our enterprise IT systems. You will be responsible for designing implementing and maintaining monitoring observability automation and cloud infrastructure solutions to optimize IT operations centralize data and processes and improve visibility for support teams and customers. Youll have the opportunity to leverage advanced tools build custom solutions and work with multiple teams and business units to improve IT service delivery and user satisfaction. What will you do
- Research validate design deploy and manage observability and reporting platforms leveraging them to drive value in alignment with branch direction and objectives
- Develop realtime monitoring dashboards alerts and log analysis pipelines to detect system anomalies provide visibility to stakeholders
- Serve as a technical mentor for IT analysts and support teams in areas of operations automation and observability
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (infrastructure application and security) to drive improvements facilitate adoption of tools and software solutions and identify opportunities for growth
- Develop and maintain code to integrate tools and platforms improve reliability and efficiency via automation and enhance existing processes
- Support and enhance incident problem and change management processes
- Consolidate and centralize data and processes to improve accuracy and eliminate gaps
- Provide operational support and guidance across IT teams
- A postsecondary Degree in a related discipline and at least 6 years experience in an IT Analytical role or equivalent including demonstrated ability to lead initiatives of all sizes and complexities. Formal certification in the area of expertise is desirable
- OR postsecondary diploma and at least 7 years experience in an IT Analytical role or equivalent including demonstrated ability to lead initiatives of all sizes and complexities. Formal certification in the area of expertise is desirable
- Technical experience across in a computing environment similar to the City of Edmontons:
- Complex and highly diverse data application and technology environments
- Hybrid environment of cloud and onpremise data application and technologies
- Experience providing operational infrastructure support across multiple technology tiers including onpremises and cloud infrastructure
Skills required for success:
- Indepth experience deploying onpremises IT infrastructure and Google Cloud Platform solutions
- Expertise with various observability platforms for logs metrics and traces dashboards and reporting.
- Demonstrated experiencing working with technical teams to enhance operational visibility and processes
- Proficient in log aggregation & analysis techniques
- Experience with synthetic transactions and RUM
- Advanced knowledge of AIOps & event correlation for proactive issue identification
- Skilled in configuring distributed tracing for endtoend visibility in cloudnative apps.
- Expert capabilities with multiple scripting and development languages for infrastructure automation and custom software solutions
- Strong API & integration skills with crossteam experience for data/process consolidation
- Experienced in workflow orchestration platforms
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
- Indepth ITSM Platform and process experience (ITILaligned incident problem change management)
- Expert in SRE principles (high availability fault tolerance scalability) with deep understanding of SLIs/SLOs/error budgets
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and techniques through handson selfguided research and training
- Expertise in using critical & analytical thinking techniques to solve technical and business problems
- Proficient in handson operational support of multiple tiers including cloud compute network storage databases applications etc
Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $52.866 $67.383 (Hourly); $110384.21 $140695.70 (Annually)
