Job Description
Appellate Court Law Clerk: Judge F. Rand Wallis of Floridas Fifth District Court of Appeal will have an opening for a law clerk commencing sometime between August 1 and December 31 2025. The start date is negotiable.
This is a fulltime position. Work may be performed at the court in Daytona Beach Florida remotely via secure linked technology or in a hybrid combination of inperson and remote.
The position involves the preparation of bench memos based upon the clerks review of the parties briefs the record on appeal and independent research. The successful candidate will have a record of academic achievement the ability to analyze and research civil and criminal matters excellent writing skills including working knowledge of Blue Book and similar legal citation formulas together with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines for completion of work. Membership in the Florida Bar is desired but not required.
Education and Training Guidelines
There are three levels in the position available at hiring or progressing within the position.
Entrylevel law clerk requires graduation from an accredited U.S. law school with very good academic achievement.
Senior law clerk level requires two years of legal experience and Florida Bar membership.
Career attorney level requires five years of legal experience and Florida Bar membership.
Salary range $67881.12 to $86592.18 depending on experience.
