Job Description
Our Teachers develop and implement instructional programs that effectively provide the best possible education for each and every student. This role providesindividualized and specialized instruction and/or training services to adult students working towards gaining English language skills and/or GED/High School Equivalency. Additionally this role will leverage strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues parents and stakeholders to support student success.
Essential Functions:
- Designs coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter current instructional practices Adult Education standards student needs and curriculum goals;
- Evaluates student progress; provides specific evaluative feedback; maintains appropriate records and reporting documents;
- Selects evaluates and refines a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies for the active engagement of students in learning;
- Works collaboratively with staff families and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population;
- Models professional moral and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions;
- Performs related duties as assigned by the corrections institution in accordance with the institutions policies and practices
Education and Experience:
Required
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience as applicable.
Preferred
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
- Prior teaching experience within a public school system
