The AWS Capacity Forecasting team engages with all AWS service teams to build the worlds largest Cloud infrastructure. Come make history!

The team owns demand forecasts software and capacity optimization systems hardware which produces hardware ordering recommendation. As part of EC2 Core Platform we aim to strike a nimble balance between capacity availability and utilization.
We provide demand forecasts for all AWS services and automate the procurement of hardware to support our rapidly growing business. We apply advanced forecasting data mining and machine learning techniques to predict customer demand growth. We also build capacity models for foundational AWS services and identify their performance bottlenecks (disk/CPU/IO etc. to serve everincreasing customer demand. Combining the demand forecast and the capacity model we generate hardware purchases that optimize across customer experience and hardware utilization. Our software drives the many billions of dollars in CapEx that AWS spends every year and our projects help improve AWS utilization to reduce CapEx by 100s of millions of dollars every year.
