Job Description
Reporting to the Chair of the UCSF Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department the Dentist will primarily provide dental services at Dental Oncology at UCSF Healths Bakar Precision Cancer Medicine Building. This position provides the management of medically complex and specialneeds patients in both outpatient and hospital settings which requires proficiency in performing all aspects of general dentistry including but not limited to exams radiographic interpretation restorative dentistry fixed and removable prosthodontics endodontics periodontics and oral surgery. This position will be located primarily at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus with occasional duties performed at the UCSF Parnassus Campus Special Needs outpatient clinic or in the hospital operating room and the Laguna Honda Hospital.
The incumbent will hold a concomitant academic without salary appointment.
This is a contract role for 1 year from the date of hire.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
Our laboratory employs a multidisciplinary approach of molecular biochemical in vitro electrophysiological and behavioral techniques to evaluate mechanisms underlying pain and analgesia. We are investigating signal transduction mechanisms for mechanical thermal and chemical stimulusinduced activation of sensory neurons and mechanisms underlying sensitization of responses to these stimuli. We also investigate neural and endocrine (stress axis) contributions to inflammation the immune response and pain.
