Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $19.00 PER HOUR.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages communitybased supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

ACS Office of Human Resources (OHR) is responsible for a wide range of functions that directly support our agencys mission to deliver comprehensive highquality services that empower children and families to thrive. Key responsibilities of OHR include the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures recruitment and hiring of qualified candidates onboarding and training of new employees performance and compensation management and ensuring compliance with all relevant employment civil service and labor laws. In addition to these core functions OHR offers a variety of employee services including career development benefits and wellness programs. OHR collaborates with ACS programs and divisions to implement initiatives that foster an environment of employee empowerment advocacy and involvement while attracting and cultivating a diverse dynamic workforce. OHR is seeking an energetic individual to serve as an ACS Wellness Undergraduate Intern.

As an ACS Wellness Undergraduate Intern you will support ACS Employee Wellness Program team with implementing WorkWellNYC programs and initiatives in efforts to encourage employees to put their physical mental and emotional wellbeing first! This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage and empower ACS employees to live healthy active lifestyles and provide health and wellbeing services programs and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist Wellness Coordinator in developing and executing wellness programs events and educational resources

Conduct research on health education topics and awareness to support wellness initiatives

Develop wellness calendar program flyers and wellness content for the ACS intranet in efforts to engage employees and increase program visibility

Support logistics and event coordination for wellness activities such as workshops fitness challenges and informational sessions

Maintain spreadsheets to track wellness program events and participation outcomes and feedback

Participate in virtual meetings assist in preparing materials and summarize key takeaways

Learning Outcomes:

Gain handson experience implementing wellness programming for multiple worksites

Develop skills in partnering with the Mayors Office of Labor Relations WorkWellNYC Program team to introduce new program initiatives for a government agency

Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks and events


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Section 424A of the New York Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a candidate for employment with childcaring responsibilities has been the subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report.

Qualifications :

As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June August each year.
