Description

Pediatric Neurology Assistant Professor in the Community & Population Health Dept. College of Nursing;



Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role include 95 clinical practice assignment at Le Bonheur Childrens Hospital which includes: Planning and directing the delivery of healthcare to the Pediatric Neurology population. The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their families. In addition 5 educational responsibilities in the College of Nursing will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assesses diagnoses and treats patients in the neurology division according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating in the design and revision of protocols.
  • Collaborates with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • Develops strong partnership with patients family members fellow physicians/nurses and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
  • Outpatient position involves managing the care of children with new and ongoing neurological disorders developing education plans for families and ordering appropriate consultation and referrals when indicated.


Qualifications
  • Earned Masters degree or higher in a nursing specialty from an accredited university required. Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred.
  • Current DEA certification and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and advanced practice nurse (APN) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennesseerequired.
  • Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary and/or Acute Care.
  • Academic rank is based upon academic credentials.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Three years of clinical practice experience at the RN level.
  • Experience in the role of an APRN preferred.
