DESCRIPTION
MendocinoLake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a ShortTerm NonContinuing Office Assistant for our Veterans Resource Center.
This is a temporary noncontinuing position. This position is open until filled.

Under direction of the department manager provides clerical support; including customer service data entry and filing duties.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a ShortTerm NonContinuing (STNC) temporary hourly position 1040 hours per week $17.79 per hour; Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire STNC employees for less than 75 of a school year up to 180 days.

Benefits: The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee.
Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn forty 40 hours of sick leave per fiscal year.
Retirement: This position may be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal year)

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Thesuccessfulcandidatewillsupport studentsuccessandequal accessby executingthefollowingduties:
- Assists in processing forms
- Provides appropriate customer service (such as student and community reception taking messages providing information and assistance)
- Files as appropriate to the department
- Operates office equipment; such as copiers scanners and computers
- Assists with purchase orders and/or requisitions
- Sorts and delivers mail within the department
- Maintains the work area in a clean safe and orderly condition
- Assists with special projects
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
- None
PROGRAM DUTIES:
- Work the front desk in the Veterans Resource Center
- Ensure equipment and space are well maintained
- Assist students with basic questions about VA educational benefits and college support services
- Contact students enrolled in prior semester that have not enrolled
- Assist SCO with basic VA reports and file maintenance
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment; subject to interruptions and distractions; exposure to heat and fumes from machine operation. Physical demands include sitting reaching bending walking standing for long periods and light lifting (up to 25 lbs).
QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including by not limited to a LiveScanbackgroundcheckandcompletion ofTBtest.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
