Were looking for an experienced Principal Software Development Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role is for San Jose California. Reporting to the Director Software Engineering you will be responsible for:
- Qualifying and expanding Zero Trust Branch hardware SKUs
- Design and optimize system infrastructure to support highperformance networking and security applications leveraging expertise in system engineering principles.
- Apply indepth knowledge of Linux kernel internals disk partitioning file systems and kernel networking features to evaluate and enhance platform performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain highspeed data paths including kernelspace and userspace implementations such as VPP to enable efficient data transmission.
- Utilize proficiency in C programming to contribute to Linux kernel development employing tools like Git Make and other industrystandard utilities.
What Were Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- Experience in qualifying hardware for highperformance data path
- Experience in system engineering with a focus on designing and optimizing system infrastructure for highperformance networking and Security applications
- Indepth knowledge of Linux kernel internals disk partitioning file systems kernel networking features and their impact on platform performance and reliability
- Experience with highspeed data paths including kernel data path and user space data path like VPP
- 10 years of software development/testing experience
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker Kubernetes etc.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Ansible Puppet etc.

Zscalers salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors including jobrelated skills experience and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this fulltime position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) benefits.
Base Pay Range
$175000 $250000 USD
