The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is offering a unique opportunity for you to gain handson experience and valuable skills through the MDOT Transportation Career Pathways Program. This exciting program typically runs from May through September and is limited to 832 hours per appointment.

Heres what you can expect:- Explore different career paths: Choose your track based on your interests including Transportation Technician Transportation Maintenance Worker or Skilled Trades not all regions have the same tracks.

In the Bay Region we are offering the following tracks:
Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) Track
As a TMW participant youll engage in handson work related to the upkeep and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. From roadways to bridges youll play a crucial role in ensuring safe and efficient travel within our region.
TradeHelper Duties Track
For those exploring various aspects of the transportation industry this track offers handson work related to tradehelper duties. Learn from electricians maintenance mechanics and heavy equipment mechanics to discover your specific interest within the diverse field of transportation. Additional Requirements and Information
Program Requirements:
- Pass a preemployment drug test
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid drivers license by program start date 5/11/2025
- 40hour work week availability
- Ability to work outside and lift up to 45 pounds
- Ability to work on roadsides and uneven terrain
- Ability to follow and comply with oral and written instructions
