Manning one of the newest towns in the north was named after a former Premier of Alberta Ernest Manning. The town sprung up after the Second World War on the banks of the Notikewin River between two small hamlets North Star to the south and Notikewin to the north. Our community lies north of the 55th parallel nestled in northern Alberta Peace River Country. We may be far enough north to evoke images of icebergs and caribou steaks but this lush area produces some astonishing crops that you wouldnt expect to flourish here. Our seventeen hour long summer days and warm temperatures create a very short but very productive growing season. Due to the diversified economy that supports the Town of Manning the community has prospered as its businesses grew up within it to support the ever growing agricultural forestry gas and oil industries.
Well located our area boasts scenic camping and picnic sites sprinkled throughout. A hunter and fishermans paradise in natural bushland surrounds us. The Land of the Mighty Moose is not just a symbol. Hunters from near and far take advantage of the abundance of North Americas wildlife including deer elk moose ducks and geese.
