Job Description
Introduction
The White Clay Creek was named a National Wild and Scenic River by the National Park Service in 2000 which added an additional layer of protection to the area.
Summary Statement
This position is responsible for planning lessons coordinating activities and working with campers in weekly nature themed summer adventure camps at White Clay Creek State camps are for children 48 years or 8 14 years is performed indoors and outdoors weekends evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.
For Camp positions Monday through Friday will be needed throughout the camp season. Additional work on weekends evenings and holidays may be scheduled.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. - May develop and facilitate educational programs for schools and special events.
- May lead school environmental education programs tied to state standards to increase student understanding of Delawares natural and cultural resources.
- May deliver interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
- Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
- Distributes interpretive publications.
- May lead educational and recreational hikes canoe and kayak trips plus programs for park visitors.
- May include live animal care and handling.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Camp Assistant Director:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One year experience working in a camp program for children or young adults.
- One year experience in supervising groups staff or volunteers.
- Knowledge of various recreational activities such as hiking mountain biking boating rock climbing or swimming.
- Knowledge of local plants animals or history.
- Possession of a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a nonpension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
