Join us at BK Modern a cuttingedge architectural metal systems company located in downtown San Rafael CA. A wholly owned subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries Inc. we specialize in ultramodern architectural metal systems including balcony and stair guardrails wall screens canopies and fencing. Collaborating with renowned architecture firms youll be at the forefront of innovation in the industry. You will be participating in a wide variety of national and international landmark projects. Our projects are primarily for the multiresidential educational and commercial construction industries.
The Role: BK Modern is seeking an Estimator with construction miscellaneous metal or metal systems experience to help us with project inquires estimating and preconstruction. You will be working with architects general contractors and installers to answer construction technical questions regarding our product systems
What youll be doing
- Prepares estimates for assigned projects.
- Understands and uses Excel worksheets to quote projects.
- Generates Requests for Information (RFI) where appropriate.
- Works collaboratively with the Sales Team as required for projects.
- Works with AS Project Managers to develop a plan to win project.
- After award reviews drawings with Project Manager and highlights areas of concern.
- Prepares qualified technical projects to hand off to the Estimating Department.
- Understands full product lines with an emphasis on modified standard and custom products.
- Provides assistance to architects designers and endusers for design budgets and technical information to secure interest in our products.
- Followup on sales leads with great tracking methods and responsiveness
- Partner with sales team and customer to provide creative valueengineered solutions to meet customer budget requirements.
- Ensures the correct solutions are utilized manages bid strategy and ensures delivery of complex solutions in a cost effective profitable manner.
- Understands manufacturing process changes and improves estimating pricing models to ensure profitability of complex projects.
What will make you successful
- Must be able to review complex architecture drawings in AutoCAD technical documents and create an initial draft with measurements and other specifications to submit for a project estimate
- Welldeveloped computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office; extensive knowledge of MS Excel required.
- Knowledge of sheet metal or manufacturing process is preferred
- Must be able to work directly with architects contractors and subcontractors to quickly find technical solutions
- Must have excellent project management skills including scheduling budgeting and coordinating with multiple vendors
- Must be able to work with clients to develop and create construction detailing (i.e. mounting details) and assembly drawings
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and super organized
- Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel Sales Force and Bluebeam
Qualifications
- Minimum 35 years experience estimating in construction metals or fabrication
- Bachelors Degree in Design Architecture Construction Management preferred
