Are you a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant looking for a meaningful role in a supportive environment Our Inpatient Unit (IPU) provides exceptional end of life care to patients and their loved ones and we are looking for people who share our commitment to kindness dignity and respect.

Hours: Parttime or Full time worked on a rota basis provided 8 weeks in advance. Day shift is 07:0019:30 and the night shift is 19:0007:30. We may be able to offer shorter day shifts for further flexibility.

What Youll Be Doing:

As a Healthcare Assistant in our IPU you will:

  • Provide personalised care supporting patients with personal hygiene mobility and nutritional needs.
  • Work alongside registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic patientcentred care.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and their loved ones during challenging times.
  • Contribute to the assessment and review of individual care plans.
  • Maintain dignity and respect for every patient ensuring they receive compassionate end of life care.

What youll bring:

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing outstanding care. You will need:

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Care Certificate (or willingness to complete within 12 months).
  • A Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care is desirable.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience providing personal care in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of palliative and end of life care.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotionally challenging situations.

About Ashgate:

Ashgate Hospice based in North Derbyshire offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with lifelimiting or incurable illnesses including cancer neurological diseases and advanced heart kidney and lung conditions. Last year we cared for over 2400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed managing their symptoms and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.

We also provide vital support to the people who are important to them offering practical assistance and emotional support including bereavement services.
