Step into Your New Role

As an Archaeological Field Technician you will assist on field survey site recordation monitoring and preparing technical reports. This position will work on Phase I archaeological survey near Orlando FL and will run from April 28 2025 through June. Phase II archaeological evaluation is in Hebron OH and will run from June to midJuly. Further work is anticipated in the Midwest MidAtlantic and Southeast.


Responsibilities:

  • Fieldwork including but not limited to survey testing excavation monitoring site recordation and report preparation.
  • Work directly with other archaeologists monitors biologists environmental planners and project managers.
  • Provide enthusiasm and commitment to client service and technical excellence.
  • Successful candidates will be familiar with working within a fastpaced consulting environment and help to develop effective solutions to both expected and unexpected project challenges.

Pay is $18 to $23 per hour depending on experience. Lodging will be provided for each night in a hotel.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Candidates must be able and willing to travel and work outdoors in remote locations and for extended periods under all weather conditions sometimes traversing rugged terrain.
  • Valid drivers license with good driving record and complete a background check.
  • Capable of transporting equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to endure prolonged standing and hike up to 5 miles in challenging environments with required supplies.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and respond quickly while working in the field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel out of state for several weeks at a time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or higher in anthropology archaeology or closely related field.
  • The ability to independently identify prehistoric and historicera cultural resources.
  • Three months of progressive experience participating in cultural resources field projects or participated in an accredited field school.
  • Excavate a minimum of 25 shovel pest pits 30m in diameter) per day.
  • Able to use a compass for pedestrian surveys and shovel tests.
  • Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS total station etc. and GIS applications and software.
  • Experience using Collector/Field Maps.
