TheRole
EnergyX is looking for an intern to focus with the Membrane and Electrodialysis Team. This role will allow interns to obtain realword industry experience in understanding flows instrumentation and data taken from experiments to help in the process and production of lithium hydroxide. Though not necessary candidates should have polymer chemistry experience. They should also possess great communication skills and the ability to pay attention to detail.
KeyResponsibilities
- Labscale and pilotscale tests at Austin facility on the bipolar electrodialysis units for production of lithium hydroxide.
- Coordinating with upstream and downstream process leaders for continuous movement of materials through the pilot train.
- Basic modeling of sizing and scaleup of electrodialysis systems
- Building electrodialysis stacks at all scales (lab pilot demo commercial)
- Opportunity to assist in commissioning of demo unit at EnergyX field site in Texarkana
- Witness and assist with commissioning of rolltoroll ion exchange membrane production line
- Work with membrane chemists to scale up developed chemistries from lab to production.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of flows instrumentation and data taking from experiments
- Good communication skills
- Experience with basic process modeling and technoeconomic analysis with Excel
- Attention to detail
- Work on membrane materials will require polymer chemistry experience but not necessary
