POSITION SUMMARY
Supervisor nursing unit is responsible for the daytoday operations direct supervision of the RN staff and assists the Director and/or Manager with the operational management of the nursing unit. The Supervisor coordinates care of the patients during hospitalization to obtain the best utilization of resources so that patient outcomes are optimized. The Supervisor serves as a professional clinical role model for patient care and assists other professionals in their development. The Supervisor demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and organization and applies good verbal and nonverbal skills to achieve service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for performance improvement activities through orientation education quality control and planning.
- Accountable to the Director for overall work performance.
- Assists the Director with the operations of assigned areas (budget regulatory compliance and resource utilization).
- Demonstrates clinical performance in the department acting as a clinical resource.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ability to consistently meet customer service standards.
- Displays a professional commitment to the organization supporting the unit team and promoting unity and teamwork interdepartmentally through positive working relationships.
- Ensures that the clinical aspects of patient care services are met (staffing workflow resources availability).
- Identifies and provides for staff development.
- Manages human resources effectively (interview hire counsel evaluation assist with terminations decrease vacancies and turnover).
- Provides a professional and competent role model for customer services and collaborates practice acts as an administrative resource.
- Supports a safe blame free and healing environment for patients visitors and personnel.
Education
Minimum (Required)Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
Preferred (Not required)Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum (Required)Minimum two to three years clinical experience required.
Preferred (Not required)Prior management/leadership experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Minimum (Required)
A current RN license in the State of California is required.
Complete and maintain PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification preferred.
Must successfully complete and maintain AC LS certification.
Must successfully complete and maintain BLS certification.
Obtain/Posses current Management of ive Behavior Certification; can obtain within 6 months of hire.

Pay Transparency
The annual salary range for this position is $54.55 $81.82. When extending an offer of employment the University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity federal State and local laws contractual stipulations grant funding as well as external market and organizational considerations.
