Research Technologist III

This position would support basic research lab efforts of the Laronda Lab in the Fertility & Hormone Preservation & Restoration (FHPR) program. The Laronda Lab seeks to understand mechanisms of human sex development and to translate this knowledge into solutions that support fertility and hormone diagnostic and restorative technologies. This technician would support the NIHfunded or intramural funded basic and translational studies including development of sexhormone producing cells from human iPSCs and understanding mechanisms of human ovarian tissue transplantation using a mouse xenograft model. The Laronda Lab has trainees of all levels from undergraduate through postdoc and clinical fellows. This position would include supporting these trainees by demonstrating and performing experimentation that supports their projects. This technician will have the opportunity to present lab data at local meetings when research milestones are met. As a part of the tech team this hire may also be required to perform administrative lab support. The hire would also follow lab compliance with all associated rules and regulations.

Job Duties:

• Follow overall research objectives independently design plan conduct & troubleshoot experiments.
• Evaluates protocols & data obtained from groups of experiments & recommends changes to processes procedures & techniques to improve quality & validity of results based upon overall project objectives.
• Observe experiments collect record summarize analyze & interpret research data. Collate relevant mathematical results.
• Prepares complex tables reflecting relationships of multiple tests.
• Draw scientific conclusions.
• Prepare charts and graphs and associated text for grant applications.
• Coauthors scientific papers.
• Tracks & summarizes lab supply expenses related to projects.
• Orders &/or maintains inventory of reagent mice &/or lab supplies.
• Trains & directs other lab EEs &/or students in research techniques & procedures
• Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Successful completion of a full 4year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years lab/bench or other relevant experience required; OR Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a masters or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year lab/bench or other relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of computers ability to troubleshoot work independently and function as a team member is essential. Therefore experience in regular interaction with outside groups is highly desirable.
• Excellent command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong organizational skills including the ability to establish priorities react promptly to a large variety of requests and the ability to keep the workplace clean and organized.
