JOB SUMMARY:

Greensboro College Sports Medicine is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. Greensboro College is an NCAA Division III institution with athletic teams competing in both the USA South Conference and Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and is independently responsible for the daytoday sports medicine/athletic training operations of one or more of Greensboro Colleges 19 athletic teams. The purpose of the position is to provide the best possible health care to studentathletes through the holistic and individualized approach to the prevention management rehabilitation and referral of injuries and illnesses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in supervision and maintenance of the athletic training room when the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine is not present to meet the needs of the studentathletes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the studentathlete his/her parents the coach and the medical community in matters relative to the prevention care and management of athletic related injuries and illnesses.
  • Plan implement and monitor the rehabilitation of injured studentathletes.
  • Maintain the privacy of an athletes health information and maintain accurate complete and precise documentation utilizing an electronic medical record system
  • Assist in serving as the liaison between the team physician and the athletic department.
  • Maintain communication with Student Health Services for nonorthopedic illnesses
  • Assist as needed in processing all insurance forms for medical fees and charges concerning sportsrelated injuries to the studentathletes.
  • Assist in maintaining all sports medicine facilities equipment and supplies
  • Attend designated team practices and events (home and away) as determined by risk and availability
  • Coordinate athletic training services for teams at away competitions.
  • Assist visiting athletic teams with the necessary athletic training and medical needs.
  • Advise and counsel studentathletes and their parents in regard to the emergency treatments required for nonathletic/athletic injuries and illnesses.
  • Serve as a critical member of the comprehensive team that determines participation of studentathletes in practices and competitions based on his/her examination of the injury/illness information from the physician and other pertinent information relative to the injury/illness.
  • Administer in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine and Director of Athletics the departments policies and procedures for drug alcohol and tobacco education and testing.
  • Maintain current national and state licensure and certification requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of contemporary athletic training issues by participating in continuing education activities to provide an appropriate standard of care.
  • Maintain all appropriate CPR/AED/First Aid requirements as defined by the NATABOC.
  • Complete any other duties given by the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Must possess at least a bachelors degree from a CAATE accredited athletic training program masters preferred
  • Experience: Collegiate athletic training experience preferred but not required
  • Certificate/License: Must be NATA BOC certified and possess or be eligible for licensure in North Carolina
