General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled trades work in the maintenance of Refrigeration Units for all school facilities and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Maintenance Manager.
Qualification Requirements
Must hold a Refrigeration license.
Considerable experience in the installation maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment or the equivalent education and experience.
Considerable knowledge of the practices methods materials and equipment used in refrigeration maintenance.
Considerable knowledge of the different types of refrigeration systems
Skill in the use of tools and materials used in the trade.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions.

Reports to
HVAC Supervisor
Essential Functions
Perform duties involving the installation maintenance operation and repair of refrigeration equipment.
Inspect controls and other components and determine the need for repair or replacement of equipment.
Repair or replace defective components.
Assembly of refrigeration units to work order and blueprint specifications.
Observe temperature and pressure readings replace coolant and adjust controls to obtain specified operation of equipment.
Oil and clean all kitchen equipment. Conduct periodic inspection of refrigeration equipment making immediate necessary adjustments and repairs.
Troubleshooting and repairing washers & dryers.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the materials equipment tools and techniques used in the installation maintenance allocation and repair of refrigeration equipment.
Thorough knowledge of applicable local state and federal laws rules and guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of the safety hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to read diagrams and blueprints.
Ability to use standard tools and equipment of trade.
Ability to operate standard office equipment and related hardware and software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Physical Requirements
This work regularly requires standing walking speaking or hearing using hands to finger handle or feel climbing or balancing stooping kneeling crouching or crawling reaching with hands and arms pushing pulling and lifting.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demand requirements are those for Medium Work.
Special Requirements
Must hold a Refrigeration license.
Must possess a valid North Carolina drivers license and maintain a safe driving record.
