Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th Grade English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR) / Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a love of reading writing and history while helping students build essential literacy and critical thinking skills. This role requires an engaging educator who can create dynamic lesson plans assess student progress and maintain a positive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and district standards for ELAR and Social Studies.
- Teach reading comprehension writing grammar vocabulary and research skills.
- Introduce students to historical concepts geography civics and cultures through interactive lessons.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and technology to enhance student learning.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments providing timely feedback.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages discussion creativity and critical thinking.
- Collaborate with colleagues parents and administration to support student success.
- Maintain effective classroom management and positive student relationships.
- Participate in faculty meetings professional development and schoolwide initiatives.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with state literacy and social studies curriculum frameworks.
- Experience integrating reading and writing strategies across content areas.
- Knowledge of projectbased learning and interactive teaching methods.
- Ability to incorporate technology and multimedia resources into instruction.
