Job Description
The manager is responsible for the daytoday operations of the institutional biorepositories. The manager will be responsible for developing implementing maintaining and monitoring policies and procedures for the biorepository including quality safety and traceability of biospecimens and related data. Ensures compliance with federal state institutional safety and IRB policies protocols and regulatory requirements. Educates staff and leaders on the operational procedures that are based on the best practices based on operational standards. Provides support to leaders and staff in developing efficient specimen ordering processing tracking and resulting systems. Provides administrative and technical support to staff and acts as liaison to Medical Staff and team members. Maintains excellent public relations for all biorepository services. Provides a timely communication link between staff and leadership. Responsible for budgeting recharge billing and monitors supplies and inventory. Actively supports the continuous quality improvement and customer service goals through the development of effective systems and the education of staff and customer base.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages quality safety and traceability of biospecimens data and associated processes and workflows for the biorepository.
Ensures compliance with applicable governmental accrediting agencies hospital and research institute standards.
Develops and implements necessary administrative tools including policy and procedures and operating practices for specimen collection storage shipment and sample management and destruction.
Reviews results of quality tests conducts audits and initiates corrective action plans as needed.
Provides direction for problem solving and quality assurance relative to the biorepository lab specimens and researchbased initiatives.
Trains and supervises biorepository research staff in specialized procedures equipment and lab concepts behind unique tests.
Works with lab experts to develop protocols and manuals and information with technical expertise as necessary for customers across the organization.
Provides oversight for all financial aspects of operations including recharge revenue invoicing and budgeting.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients families coworkers and others.
Supervises and mentors the biorepository staff with responsibility for their performance management.
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Bachelors Degree in a chemical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or Associates Degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent training and experience meeting the requirements defined in 42 CFR part 493.
Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work well in a team environment and with different personalities and educational levels.
Ability to teach and develop communication vehicles. Able to manage a variety of responsibilities simultaneously and without constant direction.

$93600.00$154440.00 SalaryAt Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
